Built for FRS members. We never ask for your Social Security number, FRS login, or account credentials. All results are educational estimates you should verify with official FRS and SSA sources.

About the FRS retirement calculator
It's a free, educational tool for Florida Retirement System (FRS) members that estimates your monthly retirement income — your FRS pension, Health Insurance Subsidy (HIS), and Social Security — plus a separate DROP accumulation estimate. It's for education only and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FRS or the Social Security Administration.
If you enter an official monthly figure from FRS, the calculator uses it. Otherwise it shows a rough educational estimate based on your Average Final Compensation multiplied by your years of creditable service and your membership-class percentage, divided by 12. It does not apply early-retirement reductions or payout-option factors, so verify your actual benefit through FRS Online or MyFRS. Our FRS retirement planning and pension guides explain more.
DROP — the Deferred Retirement Option Program — lets eligible members accumulate their monthly pension in a separate account while they keep working. The calculator estimates that balance before taxes using your months in DROP and an assumed annual interest rate. DROP is shown separately from monthly income because it may be received as a lump sum or rollover. See our DROP planning guide.
Yes. It estimates your monthly HIS as your years of creditable service times the per-year amount, kept within the program's monthly minimum and maximum, and subject to eligibility. See our HIS planning guide and confirm your eligibility with official FRS sources.
No. Every figure is an educational estimate, not an official benefit determination or guarantee. Always verify your numbers through FRS, MyFRS / FRS Online, and the Social Security Administration before making any retirement decision.
No. The calculator never asks for your Social Security number, FRS login, account credentials, or password. You enter only general assumptions such as your age, years of service, and salary.
A fiduciary is held to the highest standard of care — it must act in your best interest at all times, not merely recommend something that is “suitable.” Fee-only means the firm is paid only by its clients, through transparent, agreed-upon fees — never through commissions, product sales, or third-party compensation. (That differs from “fee-based,” which can still include commissions.)
Why the term matters: removing commissions removes a major conflict of interest, so the guidance you receive isn't shaped by which product pays the adviser more. For FRS members weighing largely irreversible choices — DROP entry and exit, pension payout options, and rollovers — that alignment helps keep the focus on your situation rather than a sale. It is not intended to provide individualized investment, tax, legal, Social Security, FRS, DROP, pension, or retirement advice. All results are estimates based on the information entered and the assumptions shown. Actual benefits may differ materially based on official FRS records, Social Security Administration records, retirement dates, service credit, salary history, pension option selected, DROP rules, tax law, cost-of-living adjustments, and other personal circumstances.
No government affiliation: Benowitz Wealth Management is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Florida Retirement System, MyFRS, the State of Florida, the Division of Retirement, the Social Security Administration, or any government agency.
Verify official numbers: Users should verify all FRS Pension, DROP, HIS, and Social Security estimates through official sources before making retirement decisions.
Not a recommendation: Nothing on this page should be interpreted as a recommendation to retire, enter DROP, roll over a DROP account, choose a pension option, claim Social Security at a specific age, buy or sell any investment, or engage Benowitz Wealth Management.
No guarantees; estimates only: These figures are hypothetical illustrations, not predictions or guarantees of future benefits or results. The educational pension figure is a simplified calculation that does not apply early-retirement reductions, joint-survivor option factors, vesting requirements, or other adjustments that affect an official benefit. The DROP figure is a before-tax accumulation estimate using an assumed interest rate that may not reflect actual credited rates.
Tax treatment: Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change. Consult a qualified tax professional regarding your specific situation.
Advisory services: Investment advisory services, where offered, are provided only pursuant to applicable advisory agreements and regulatory requirements. Benowitz Wealth Management is the public-facing brand of Joy Financial Group LLC, a Florida-registered investment adviser. Registration does not imply a certain level of skill or training.
